Beautiful Disaster is the TFL-listed fanlisting for hurricanes. It's listed under the main category Nature and subcategory Weather/Seasons/Time. It's currently owned and maintained by Andrea and is part of Hillbilly Rockstar. I was approved to build it on September 3, 2007 and opened it on October 4, 2007. The images used in this fanlisting are stock and believed to be in the public domain. I got the name "Beautiful Disaster" from a song by Kelly Clarkson. The lyrics have nothing to do with hurricanes, of course, but I thought the title was a great phrase to describe hurricanes.
I've already had a few people ask me why I like hurricanes when they can be so deadly and destructive. The short answer is that I appreciate the beauty and power of this weather feature but not the devastation they can bring. I'm a bit of a weather geek, and my interest is more in how they work and what they look like rather than what they actually do. It's no different from being a fan of volcanoes, blizzards, or earthquakes.
A fanlisting is simply a website that lists fans of a particular subject. However, unlike most web cliques, a person does not need a web site in order to join. The only requirements are your name, email address, and country. Fans from around the world submit their information and are then listed to show their love for the subject.
